Spirituality: Living the spiritual life for starters

About:

The purpose of this blog post is to spread some light in the eyes of people having unclear knowledge, perception or insight about spirituality, in a Basic manner. Religion is out of syllabus for now.

Introduction:

Today, as I have witnessed that among people of this nation especially the new age youth have a repulsive and unclear view of spirituality.

The major perception of most of the youth is to live and grow in the materialistic side of life while spirituality for them is perhaps boring, hard, wearing orange robes and rosaries, chanting the name of God, not to enjoy the life with its materialistic approach and meditate all the time etc.

In a manner, yes! being spiritual does include such things varying person to person the intensity of their spiritual practices but we must understand that as boring and lifeless as a spiritual person may seem to you, they are mostly in fact not at all like this.

Who Is a Spiritual Person?

  • A Spiritual person is more likely to have a deeper and wider experience of the reality of life. They have known some truths, realities and big pictures of the life and the self. Their goals are not selfish and include self-knowing and growth as they try to be a better version of them selves! They put their efforts in the purification of the self and understanding themselves at all levels of body, mind, and soul.

  • A Spiritual person may or may not live a simple life, perform religious activities all the time, wear robes or any such things but, a spiritual person surely knows itself and put efforts to bring out the best in itself.
  • This is a very simple and basic explanation, I've not gone deeper in explaining it for now.
  • I can on my own level of understanding define the types of positive spiritual people as:

  1. People who are not following any faith or religion (a teacher/guru/guide may or may not be present) but practicing self-development though life experiences and meditation.
  2. People following a faith or a religion naming it spirituality.
  3. People following a faith or a religion performing religious rites and rituals along with spiritual practices of self-development through meditation, mindfulness etc.
  4. People following multi faiths and religion making a comfortable subjective path to follow and grow.
  5. People making a whole new subjective religion, culture or faith system according to their own understanding of life.
  6. People following and practicing nothing but are genuinely building up a better self slowly through their own life experiences and understanding.

  • There are some spiritual practices of darker existence which are commonly under occult practices such as Satanism and Witchcraft of the left-hand path. Not all the paths of witchcraft are darker in nature, some are extremely good and pure in conduct and practice.

  • These faiths and paths believe in either complete dark and negative development of the self or a balanced approach as 'If you mess with me, I'll pull your gut out.' I will not be including and talking about these sectors of spirituality as sooner or later the seeds you sow shall reap its fruits thus, practicing such dark and destructive abilities are of no much value to the life.
  • My goal is the positive development of the self and also not ignoring the darker sides of the life but learning from them, embracing the darkness within, understanding it and not allowing it to grow further in life as much as possible as diamond takes pressure to become strong and shine.. They say without darkness even stars cannot shine, but I say it's WRONG! because Stars shines on their own, Sun is also a star that you know right? wherever as long as a star shines, it's a never-ending Day!

There is no particular code of conduct about how to be a spiritual person, neither I will say one or another way is a better and right way to follow as it is a very dynamic subject and is as equal as saying how you should live your life because it's a subjective choice. It is a very large subject to discuss that it may take me a very large time to expand and explain it but, for now, the basic knowledge is enough.

Basic Qualities and Traits of a Spiritual Person:

Even though having a dynamic nature, there are some basic guidelines of qualities and traits about how to be spiritual, however, these qualities and traits vary in their intensity of presence in people based on the various psychological, physiological and environmental factors. These guidelines are common in every form of spirituality excluding subjective choices and preferences  :
  • Knowing and understanding yourself.
  • Trying to be a better version of the self.
  • Optimistic and positive approach.
  • Accepting the darker sides of life and growing through them as a lesson of life.
  • Having a peaceful and loving personality.
  • Maturity and Wisdom.
  • Helpful and cooperative nature.
  • Having a deeper understanding of life.
  • Have clear goals and decisions.
Again this is a very basic and incomplete list as spirituality is extremely dynamic subject and cannot be captured completely only by words or understood by the intellect alone.

I will be explaining more about it in my next Blog.

If you have any questions, you can ask me and I will answer your queries.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your time to read my blog post.
